TAPROOM & RENTAL INFORMATION

Fresh Draft Beer On Tap

There’s nothing like enjoying a beer just steps from the very fermentation tank that it came from. In the Taproom, you’ll get closer to the source than you ever thought possible. Experience the brewing process, while you sample from our core brand line-up or a Limited Release brewed on site.

Taproom Rental Details

Granville Island Brewing (est.1984) is proud to be Canada’s first microbrewery. As such, our Taproom is a unique venue for your next event. This spacious room with forty-foot ceilings and exposed rustic wooden beams is perfect for receptions, meetings or any other function that requires a distinctive venue. Also adding to the Taproom’s character is our pilot brewery, which is in full view through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Capacity

The Taproom has a standing capacity of 100 people and a seated / banquet capacity of up to 50 people.

Food & Beverage

Granville Island Brewing is able to supply quality hand-crafted beer and VQA wine. Wine must be purchased through our retail store. We can provide you with a preferred list of caterers, which may be arranged for a function. You are welcome to use any catering company or self cater. Our Taproom is equipped with kitchen facilities including a convection oven and a gas grill / range for use during the event.

Music & Entertainment

The Taproom uses a satellite music system with 99+ different channels to choose from. Included in the room rental, this system provides diverse music styles for any event. A microphone is also available.

Booking an Event

We will work with you to plan the basics concerning our Taproom as it relates to the event. To book a specific date a security deposit is required. Once received, we will create a Rental Agreement that will outline the specific arrangements for your event. After the deposit is accepted and the Rental Agreement is signed, the room is considered confirmed and booked.

Parking on Granville Island

Free parking is available on Granville Island from 7:00pm until 9:00am the next morning. Pay parking is also available in various parkades around the Island.

Rental Costs

  • Evening Taproom Rental (6:00pm to 1:00am) – $1500.00
  • Includes: room rental, tables and chairs (on site), beer and wine glassware, Satellite music, post event cleaning.
  • 2 bar staff.

Additional Costs

  • Above prices are subject to applicable taxes. Events with 75 or more guest will require a 3rd staff member at $15.00 per hour. Min 5 hours.
  • Gratuity is not included in the rental
  • A Special Occasion License is required in order to serve alcohol at an event in the Taproom. It is the responsibility of the client to obtain a S.O.L. prior to the event. Please contact any BC Liquor store to obtain certification for the license as soon as possible to avoid any delays.
  • If you intend to use a band or bring music you are required to pay the applicable Socan fee.

Beverages

  • Granville Island beer is available on tap (client may either pre-purchase kegs before the event, or pay $2.50 / glass).
  • Wines from Heritage, Sandhill and Coppermoon may be selected from our retail store  (prices range from $9.95 – $29.95 / 750 ml bottle).
  • No spirits are permitted.
  • Non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased on site or brought in by caterers.

Deposits

Room Rental Deposit (50% of Room Rental Rate) is required to book the Taproom and secure a specific date. Deposits for events booked between November 15 and December 23rd are non-refundable.

Notice of cancellation must be received in writing:

  • If notification is received less than three weeks, but greater than 48 hours before the event date, 50% of rental and staffing costs will be charged.
  • If notice is given less than 48 hours before the event date, 100% of costs will be charged. Deposits for events booked between November 15 and December 23rd are non-refundable.

Payment

Payment in full is required within seven days after the event date. Payment may be cash, Interac, company cheque, or major credit card. All applicable taxes will be added.

Dropoffs and Pickups

Equipment, food, rentals, etc. may be dropped off day of the event provided that specific details have been arranged. All items must be picked up before noon the following day.
